Architectural Preservation

Historic Madison Inc.
Dedicated to preservation of Madison’s architecture and history, Historic Madison, Inc. owns 16 historic properties and operates four museums in Madison.

Cornerstone Society
The Cornerstone Society was formed in 1988 to preserve endangered properties in Madison. As an affiliate of Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana, the Cornerstone Society has saved many 19th century structures from the wrecking ball, and today works through education, design and legal assistance, to preserve Madison’s architectural legacy.

Eleutherian College
Founded in 1848, Historic Eleutherian College is today a museum and monument to a group of people believing in education, the arts and equality without regard to race or gender.

Library Hours

Wednesdays 10am – 4pm :: The Research Library is staffed by volunteers. Other hours, including weekends, can be arranged by appointment.
